Frederick LeFlore is a native of Durant, Mississippi, rooted in the heart of rural Holmes County. For 25 years, he has dedicated his life to education, serving as a teacher’s aide, classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and co-founder of S.E.E.D., a nonprofit supporting at-risk students across Mississippi.

Frederick’s stories are inspired by the people and moments that shaped him, especially the childhood experiences reflected in Chef Maurice.

Second: I think this book should be read not only by children but by primary educators alike. "Welcome to Mr. Florence's Class" was an extremely great read that I would definitely recommend to anyone with you children. It describes several very important themes about many of the challenges that students and teachers face on a daily basis. I really enjoyed how dynamic the storyline was and how each of the characters had an opportunity to grow and learn an important lesson by the end of the book.
